Mission Statement
Voices of our City empowers the LGBT youth by promoting growth, healing, and self-expression through the use of spoken word. By encouraging the youth to identify, expand, and share their voices, they can partake in a creation of social change and awareness of the issues that impact upon the LGBT community.

Vision Statement
At Voices of our City, our artistic vision is to change the lives of our LGBT youth one word at a time. Our purpose is to foster a community of LGBT youth who, through literary expression and self-awareness, awaken their inner voice and break the silence of homophobia & prejudice and promote social change.

Founder & President

Jessica Pelletier, LMSW:  At an early age, Jessica fell in love with the art of poetry and has maintained a longtime affair with it since.  Poetry and spoken word have become her outlet to express herself and preserve her creative voice.  With a background in sociology, psychology, and social work she has developed an attachment to social advocacy, social service, and social equality.  As a member and advocate of the LGBT community, Jessica has developed Voices of our City to assist homosexual youth in using spoken word as a tool to enhance their sense of self and to strengthen their coping skills in dealing with  homophobia and prejudice.

"Every person deserves a voice just as they do air to breathe.  Age, race,  gender, and sexual orientation are concealed behind the power of word.  Lift every voice...for it is equal in power and the ability to inspire."     Jessica Pelletier, Founder
